Wisdom Teeth Removal in Culver City for Better Oral Health

That deep ache behind your last molar rarely settles on its own. When third molars push against neighboring teeth or stay trapped under the gum, wisdom teeth removal in Culver City may be the safest way to protect the rest of your smile. At Toothopia Dental, our Culver City team reviews each case with digital imaging, explains what we see in plain language, and plans treatment around your comfort level and schedule. Whether one tooth is causing trouble or all four need attention, personalized care is close to home. Call 310-643-6611 to book your evaluation.

Wisdom Teeth Removal Process at Toothopia Dental in Culver City

Every wisdom teeth extraction here starts with imaging, not assumptions. A panoramic X-ray shows how each third molar sits in the jawbone, how close the roots are to the nerve, and whether you have a soft tissue impaction, a partial bony impaction, or a complete bony impaction. That picture shapes everything that follows.

  1. Wisdom teeth evaluation. We take digital X-rays, check the gum tissue for pericoronitis, decay, or cysts, and review your medical history and medications.
  2. Treatment plan and comfort choice. We review the findings with you and agree on anesthesia: local anesthesia alone, nitrous oxide for mild nerves, or IV sedation for anxious patients and four-tooth cases.
  3. The extraction. An erupted tooth often takes 20 to 30 minutes. A deeply impacted tooth may need the gum opened and the tooth sectioned, which typically brings the appointment closer to 60 to 90 minutes for all four.
  4. Site care and closure. The socket is cleaned, sutures are placed when needed, and gauze is positioned while you rest.
  5. Written aftercare. You leave with post-operative care steps and a follow-up plan.

Recovery follows a predictable pattern. Swelling usually peaks around 48 to 72 hours, then eases, and most patients return to school or desk work within two to three days. For the first 24 hours, skip straws, forceful rinsing, and smoking, since suction on the socket is the main trigger for dry socket. Cold compresses, soft foods, and salt water rinses from the next day handle the rest.

Why Choose Toothopia Dental in Culver City for Wisdom Teeth Extraction?

Patients in Culver City choose Toothopia because we focus on clear communication, careful planning, and comfortable treatment from the first consultation onward. Before any procedure begins, our team explains what we find, what your options are, and what to expect during recovery.

  • Imaging first, always. Digital X-rays and panoramic views map root position and nerve proximity before a single instrument is used.
  • Real sedation choices. Local anesthesia, nitrous oxide, and IV sedation, matched to your anxiety level rather than to the schedule.
  • Appointments that fit local life. Early-morning slots for patients heading toward the studios or downtown Culver City, and Friday openings for anyone who wants the weekend to recover.
  • One team throughout. The clinicians who evaluate the tooth handle the surgery and the follow-up, and you can reach us during the first week of healing.

Different patients arrive with very different situations, and expert wisdom teeth removal means treating them differently.

A Personalized Approach to Wisdom Tooth Removal

Every patient’s situation is different, so our approach changes based on your comfort level, symptoms, and tooth position:

  • For dental anxiety: If you feel nervous about oral surgery, we slow the appointment down, explain each step, agree on a hand signal to pause, and offer sedation options to help you feel comfortable throughout the procedure.
  • For urgent pain or swelling: If you arrive with a swollen jaw or throbbing pain caused by a partially erupted wisdom tooth trapping bacteria under the gum flap, we prioritize an evaluation to determine the right treatment plan.
  • For complex cases: When wisdom tooth roots are close to the inferior alveolar nerve, or other concerns such as bone loss or a previous unsuccessful extraction are involved, we create a careful staged treatment approach.
  • For multiple wisdom teeth: If you prefer to complete treatment in fewer visits, removing all four third molars during one sedation appointment may be possible after imaging confirms it is a suitable option.

I've been traumatized to go to the dentist since I was 12... I finally got dental insurance 4 years ago, but went to another dentist that traumatized me even more.... 4 years later, I found the best dentist I didn't even know existed which was only 7 minutes away from my house... it was like watching heavens door open, not to be dramatic or anything, but I was truly blessed no lie.... my biggest worry was a root canal I haven't covered in 14 years, they fixed that right up, gave me a crown, did my cleaning, filled some old cavity fillings and the price was heaven sent as well with my insurance I could cry... I finally am able to fix my teeth without struggling to choose between having a healthy mouth or buying groceries ...and the front desk is so nice! Everyone is so nice! They remember your face and name it doesn't even feel like im going to the dentist, thank you so much for existing

I came here because my tooth was hurting. My gum had receded and exposed the root. They told me that my gums were never going to grow back and and that a deep cleaning was required to stop the recession and that later on skin grafting could restore my gums over the root. They also told me I had 12 cavities that needed to be filled. My prior dentist a year earlier told me my teeth were fine. They canceled my regular cleaning, as it was not sufficient for the amount of disarray in my mouth, and took me into a little room to discuss my several thousand dollar treatment solution. The woman there told me that I needed to go to my employer and get the higher level dental insurance so that I would only need to pay about $3k out of pocket. I left in a panic and asked my parents if we had a family history of complete mouth disintegration around age 30. They said no, and advised me to find another dentist. I bought a water pick and spent a few months religiously cleaning my gums and using the fancy mouthwash and my gums grew back over the root and no longer hurts(that advice was thanks to Dr. Google). Then, I found another dentist who took another set of X-rays and was astounded to hear him finish his exam and say “everything looks good, no cavities, just some minor plaque buildup and we’ll get that off right now”. Hope this can help someone else save some hard earned money.

Culver City Patients' Most Common Questions About Wisdom Teeth Removal

How long does wisdom teeth removal take at your Culver City clinic?

Most appointments at our Culver City clinic run between 45 and 90 minutes from check-in to discharge. A single erupted tooth is often out in 20 to 30 minutes, while four impacted third molars under sedation take longer. If you are searching for wisdom teeth removal near me in Culver City and need to work around a shift, ask for a morning slot.

How should I prepare for my wisdom teeth removal appointment in your dental clinic?

Preparation depends on your anesthesia. With local anesthesia only, eat a light meal beforehand and drive yourself as usual. With IV sedation, stop eating and drinking six to eight hours before the appointment and arrange a ride home, which matters if you are coming from Palms, Mar Vista, or elsewhere near you. Bring your insurance card and a list of current medications.

Can your Culver City dental clinic treat wisdom teeth emergencies?

Yes. Sudden swelling, a locked jaw, fever, or pain that keeps you awake counts as urgent, and we keep daily slots open for Culver City patients in that situation. Call 310-643-6611 first so we can advise you while you head over. Emergency visits focus on controlling infection and pain, with removal scheduled once the area calms down.

Can teenagers and adults get wisdom teeth removal?

Yes. We treat teenagers, college students, and adults of all ages at our Culver City office. Roots are still developing in the mid to late teens, which often makes healing faster, though adults in their thirties, forties, and beyond are treated routinely. Adult cases call for closer attention to bone density and medical history.

What factors affect the cost of wisdom teeth removal near me in Culver City?

The main factors are how many teeth are removed, the type of impaction, the anesthesia you choose, and the imaging required. A soft tissue impaction is simpler than a complete bony impaction, and IV sedation adds to a straightforward extraction. Your plan and remaining annual benefit also change what you pay. Call our Culver City team at 310-643-6611 for a written estimate after your evaluation.
