How Our Inglewood Clinic Evaluates and Treats Sleep Apnea
Effective sleep apnea treatment starts with an accurate diagnosis and ends with a device built for your mouth alone. Our role is dental sleep medicine: we screen for airway problems, coordinate the medical diagnosis with a sleep physician, and then design and fit a custom oral appliance that keeps your airway open through the night.
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) happens when the soft tissues at the back of the throat relax and collapse, briefly blocking airflow. Each pause drops your oxygen levels and pulls you out of deep sleep, sometimes hundreds of times a night. A custom oral appliance gently advances the lower jaw and steadies the tongue so the upper airway stays open.
Because OSA is a medical condition, a formal diagnosis comes from a sleep study, not a dental exam. We work alongside your physician throughout, so your care stays coordinated from the first visit to your final follow-up.
Your sleep apnea treatment journey with our team:
- Screening and evaluation. We review your symptoms, snoring, gasping, morning headaches, and daytime sleepiness, along with your medical history and a focused airway exam.
- Sleep study and diagnosis. If a sleep disorder is suspected, we help arrange a sleep study (in-lab polysomnography or a home sleep test). A physician confirms the diagnosis and its severity.
- Custom appliance design. Using digital intraoral scanning, we capture a precise model of your teeth to build a mandibular advancement device made for your bite.
- Fitting and adjustment. We fit your Sleep Apnea Oral Appliance and fine-tune the jaw position gradually, so it feels comfortable and works the way it should.
- Follow-up care. We check comfort and results over time, and your physician may order a follow-up sleep test to confirm your airway is staying open.
If you have tried CPAP and could not stick with it, an oral appliance often succeeds where the machine failed, because you will actually wear it. For patients who travel often, a device that fits in a carry-on keeps treatment consistent. In cases where OSA is severe or complex, we may combine an appliance with other therapy, always in step with your sleep physician.

Why Patients Choose Toothopia for Sleep Apnea Treatment in Inglewood
Patients across Inglewood choose our clinic because we make treatment simple, comfortable, and genuinely tailored to each airway. You get a custom-fit solution and a team that stays with you well past the first fitting.
- Custom-fit comfort. Every appliance is built from a digital scan of your teeth, not a one-size mouthpiece, so it stays comfortable enough to wear every single night.
- A real CPAP alternative. For mild to moderate OSA, and for patients who cannot tolerate a mask, oral appliance therapy offers quiet, portable solutions for Sleep Apnea.
- Coordinated care. As a Sleep apnea specialist team working in dental sleep medicine, we partner directly with your physician so diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up stay connected.
- Anxiety-friendly visits. If dental visits make you nervous, we keep the pace slow, explain each step in plain language, and give you full control over the process.
- Local convenience. One nearby clinic handles scanning, fitting, and adjustments, so busy Inglewood schedules stay intact.

What Inglewood Patients Say About Their Sleep Apnea Treatment Experience
I'm forever grateful for Toothopia and all their whole staff! Every time I come here I feel incredibly welcomed and everyone is so friendly, understanding and kind. A big thanks to Kelly and Georgina! I still have a lot of work to get done on my teeth but today I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Nadia and Victoria for taking care of me today and doing an amazing job on teeth!
The staff is outstanding, always helpful. Kelly has been a lot of help with keeping my balance straight, lol. She good at what she does. Dr. Michelle does outstanding work, I highly recommend her for all your dental work. My crown fit perfect, the color matched all the rest of my teeth. I’m so pleased with the work that I’ve had done.
I came here because my tooth was hurting. My gum had receded and exposed the root. They told me that my gums were never going to grow back and and that a deep cleaning was required to stop the recession and that later on skin grafting could restore my gums over the root. They also told me I had 12 cavities that needed to be filled. My prior dentist a year earlier told me my teeth were fine. They canceled my regular cleaning, as it was not sufficient for the amount of disarray in my mouth, and took me into a little room to discuss my several thousand dollar treatment solution. The woman there told me that I needed to go to my employer and get the higher level dental insurance so that I would only need to pay about $3k out of pocket. I left in a panic and asked my parents if we had a family history of complete mouth disintegration around age 30. They said no, and advised me to find another dentist. I bought a water pick and spent a few months religiously cleaning my gums and using the fancy mouthwash and my gums grew back over the root and no longer hurts(that advice was thanks to Dr. Google). Then, I found another dentist who took another set of X-rays and was astounded to hear him finish his exam and say “everything looks good, no cavities, just some minor plaque buildup and we’ll get that off right now”. Hope this can help someone else save some hard earned money.

What Our Inglewood Patients Ask About Sleep Apnea Treatment
Your first visit is a conversation and a careful look at your airway, not a procedure. We review your sleep symptoms and medical history, examine your throat, jaw, and teeth, and explain how oral appliance therapy could help. If a sleep study is needed for diagnosis, we help you arrange one with a physician before any appliance is made. You will leave knowing the exact next step for treatment near you.
Yes. Nightly snoring is one of the most common reasons patients near me search for help, and it often signals a narrowed or collapsing airway. A custom oral appliance repositions your jaw to keep that airway open, which reduces or eliminates snoring for many patients. Keep in mind that heavy snoring can also point to obstructive sleep apnea, so we screen for it and coordinate a diagnosis when the signs are there.
Most patients return a few times in the first months so we can adjust the appliance and confirm it feels comfortable. After that, we typically check in once or twice a year to inspect the device and make sure your airway is still well supported. Your physician may also order a follow-up sleep test to verify results. Follow-up care near you keeps treatment working over the long term.
The investment depends on your diagnosis, the type of appliance, and whether a sleep study is involved, so we review everything with you before treatment begins. Many medical insurance plans help cover oral appliance therapy for diagnosed obstructive sleep apnea.
