Pediatric Dental Fillings Services We Provide in Culver City
When a cavity forms, prompt treatment keeps it from reaching the nerve and turning into a bigger problem. Our team restores decayed baby teeth and permanent teeth so your child can chew, speak, and smile without discomfort.
Our pediatric filling services cover:
- Tooth-colored composite fillings for cavities in front and back teeth
- Restoration of decay in primary (baby) teeth to hold space for adult teeth
- Fillings for early permanent molars in older children
- Repair of small chips or cracks caused by decay or a minor injury
- Stainless steel crowns when a tooth is too damaged for a standard filling
Each treatment starts with a careful exam and, when needed, a low-radiation digital X-ray to spot decay hidden between teeth. Not sure which service your child needs? A quick checkup gives you a clear answer.

Pediatric Dental Fillings Options for Children at Our Culver City Clinic
Children's teeth come in different sizes and stages, so the right filling option depends on the tooth, the size of the cavity, and your child's age. During your visit, we walk you through the choices and recommend the option that protects the tooth best.
Common options are:
- Composite resin fillings: tooth-colored, bonded material that blends with the natural tooth and suits most cavities
- Glass ionomer fillings: release fluoride and work well for certain baby teeth or areas that are hard to keep dry
- Stainless steel crowns: durable coverage for a tooth with heavy decay, common on back baby molars
- White, tooth-colored crowns: a natural-looking choice for visible teeth when a crown is needed
We avoid a one-size-fits-all approach and match the material to each tooth. Hoping for tooth-colored results? Tell us, and we will factor it into the plan.
Pediatric Dental Fillings Process in Culver City at Toothopia

A kid's filling usually takes one short visit, and most children handle it easily with the right pacing. Here is what a typical filling appointment looks like:
- Gentle exam and diagnosis: we check the tooth and take a digital X-ray if decay may be hidden between teeth
- Numbing for comfort: a topical gel goes on first, followed by local anesthetic so your child feels little to nothing
- Decay removal: we clean out the decayed area and prepare the tooth with quiet, child-friendly instruments
- Filling placement: tooth-colored composite is layered into the space and hardened with a curing light
- Shaping and polishing: we shape the filling, check the bite, and smooth it so it feels natural
- Quick aftercare chat: we explain what to expect as the numbness fades and answer any questions
Most fillings wrap up in well under an hour. Want to see how simple it can be for your child? Schedule a visit with our team.

What Our Patients in Culver City Say About Us
I'm forever grateful for Toothopia and all their whole staff! Every time I come here I feel incredibly welcomed and everyone is so friendly, understanding and kind. A big thanks to Kelly and Georgina! I still have a lot of work to get done on my teeth but today I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Nadia and Victoria for taking care of me today and doing an amazing job on teeth!
The staff is outstanding, always helpful. Kelly has been a lot of help with keeping my balance straight, lol. She good at what she does. Dr. Michelle does outstanding work, I highly recommend her for all your dental work. My crown fit perfect, the color matched all the rest of my teeth. I’m so pleased with the work that I’ve had done.
I came here because my tooth was hurting. My gum had receded and exposed the root. They told me that my gums were never going to grow back and and that a deep cleaning was required to stop the recession and that later on skin grafting could restore my gums over the root. They also told me I had 12 cavities that needed to be filled. My prior dentist a year earlier told me my teeth were fine. They canceled my regular cleaning, as it was not sufficient for the amount of disarray in my mouth, and took me into a little room to discuss my several thousand dollar treatment solution. The woman there told me that I needed to go to my employer and get the higher level dental insurance so that I would only need to pay about $3k out of pocket. I left in a panic and asked my parents if we had a family history of complete mouth disintegration around age 30. They said no, and advised me to find another dentist. I bought a water pick and spent a few months religiously cleaning my gums and using the fancy mouthwash and my gums grew back over the root and no longer hurts(that advice was thanks to Dr. Google). Then, I found another dentist who took another set of X-rays and was astounded to hear him finish his exam and say “everything looks good, no cavities, just some minor plaque buildup and we’ll get that off right now”. Hope this can help someone else save some hard earned money.

Pediatric Dental Fillings Questions from Culver City Patients
Coverage for kids' fillings depends on your specific dental plan, and our team can check your child's benefits before treatment begins. Call our Culver City office with your insurance details, and we will confirm what your plan covers and explain any out-of-pocket portion clearly. We work to keep the financial side as simple as the care itself.
In many cases, yes. If your child has a straightforward cavity and feels comfortable, we can often complete the filling during the same first visit near you in Culver City. For more complex decay or an anxious child who needs time to settle in, we may plan the filling for a follow-up so the experience stays calm and positive. We always confirm the best approach after examining the tooth.
Absolutely. Comfortable kids fillings are a core part of what our team does, especially for children with dental anxiety in Culver City. We use gentle numbing, tell-show-do explanations, and nitrous oxide (laughing gas) when it helps a nervous child relax. Many families searching for a gentle kids dentist near them find that our patient, low-pressure style makes a real difference.
After a filling, expect your child's mouth to stay numb for a short time, so it is best to avoid chewing on that side until the feeling returns. Mild sensitivity to hot or cold can last a day or two and usually fades on its own. Your child can eat normally once the numbness wears off, and regular brushing and flossing keep the new filling healthy. Call our Culver City team anytime if you notice ongoing discomfort.
