Children’s Dental Crown Options for Baby Teeth in Our Inglewood Clinic
A dental crown covers the entire tooth to restore its shape, strength, and chewing function when a filling is no longer enough. At Toothopia Dental, we select the appropriate crown based on the tooth’s location, condition, and the amount of healthy structure remaining.
The crown options we provide for children:
- Stainless steel crowns: Durable, preformed crowns commonly used for back baby molars. They are strong, efficient to place, and designed to protect the tooth until it naturally falls out.
- Tooth-colored crowns: A natural-looking option for front teeth where appearance is especially important to children and parents.
- Crowns after a pulpotomy: Protect and seal a treated primary tooth after deep decay has affected the inner part of the tooth.
A crown may be recommended when a baby tooth has a large cavity, has been weakened by a pulpotomy, is cracked or fractured, or has enamel defects that increase the risk of rapid wear or decay.
Protecting a primary tooth can also support healthy oral development. Baby molars help maintain space for permanent teeth and contribute to proper bite development.

Baby Teeth Crown Treatment Process at Toothopia in Inglewood
Most crowns can be completed in a single visit. We explain each step in age-appropriate language and adapt the process to help your child feel comfortable and supported throughout treatment.
We begin with a thorough pediatric dental examination and low-radiation digital X-rays to assess the extent of decay and evaluate the tooth and surrounding structures.
The treatment area is gently numbed. For very young or anxious children, sedation options may be discussed when appropriate.
Decay is carefully removed, and the tooth is shaped to provide a secure fit for the crown. If the pulp is affected, a pulpotomy may be completed first.
The crown is selected, adjusted, and securely placed. We check the bite to ensure proper function and comfort.
We confirm that your child is comfortable and provide clear instructions for caring for the crowned tooth at home.
Every child responds differently to dental treatment. For anxious patients, we can slow the pace and use simple signals to give them a sense of control. If a child has an urgent dental issue, such as a painful or broken tooth, we prioritise relieving discomfort and addressing the immediate problem. When several teeth require treatment, care may be divided across visits or sedation may be considered when appropriate.
Baby Teeth Crown Aftercare Tips from Our Inglewood Dental Team
After a baby teeth crown is placed, most children recover quickly with minimal discomfort. Our dental team recommends a few simple steps to help your child stay comfortable and keep the crowned tooth healthy:
- Choose softer foods: Offer soft foods for the first day, especially while the numbness wears off.
- Manage mild tenderness: Slight sensitivity or tenderness for a day or two is normal and can usually be managed with appropriate children’s pain relief.
- Maintain oral hygiene: Continue gentle brushing around the crown twice a day to keep the tooth and gums clean.
- Keep regular checkups: A crowned tooth can still develop decay around the gumline, so routine dental visits remain important.

What Inglewood Patients Say About Our Baby Teeth Crowns Service
I'm forever grateful for Toothopia and all their whole staff! Every time I come here I feel incredibly welcomed and everyone is so friendly, understanding and kind. A big thanks to Kelly and Georgina! I still have a lot of work to get done on my teeth but today I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Nadia and Victoria for taking care of me today and doing an amazing job on teeth!
The staff is outstanding, always helpful. Kelly has been a lot of help with keeping my balance straight, lol. She good at what she does. Dr. Michelle does outstanding work, I highly recommend her for all your dental work. My crown fit perfect, the color matched all the rest of my teeth. I’m so pleased with the work that I’ve had done.
I came here because my tooth was hurting. My gum had receded and exposed the root. They told me that my gums were never going to grow back and and that a deep cleaning was required to stop the recession and that later on skin grafting could restore my gums over the root. They also told me I had 12 cavities that needed to be filled. My prior dentist a year earlier told me my teeth were fine. They canceled my regular cleaning, as it was not sufficient for the amount of disarray in my mouth, and took me into a little room to discuss my several thousand dollar treatment solution. The woman there told me that I needed to go to my employer and get the higher level dental insurance so that I would only need to pay about $3k out of pocket. I left in a panic and asked my parents if we had a family history of complete mouth disintegration around age 30. They said no, and advised me to find another dentist. I bought a water pick and spent a few months religiously cleaning my gums and using the fancy mouthwash and my gums grew back over the root and no longer hurts(that advice was thanks to Dr. Google). Then, I found another dentist who took another set of X-rays and was astounded to hear him finish his exam and say “everything looks good, no cavities, just some minor plaque buildup and we’ll get that off right now”. Hope this can help someone else save some hard earned money.

Families’ Common Questions About Baby Teeth Crowns in Inglewood
In many cases, your child can be seen the same day or within a day or two, especially when there is pain or a broken tooth. If you are searching for baby teeth crowns treatment near you, our team keeps urgent slots open so children are not left waiting in discomfort. Once the tooth is ready, the crown itself is usually placed in a single visit.
Yes. Stainless steel crowns are one of the most reliable choices for children's back teeth. These preformed metal crowns are strong, gentle on the gums, and placed in one visit. For front teeth, we also offer tooth-colored crowns when appearance is the priority. During the exam, we will recommend the crown that best protects your child's specific tooth.
Most children need just one visit for a baby tooth crown. We prepare the tooth, place the crown, and check the bite in the same appointment. If a pulpotomy is needed first or several teeth are being treated, we may plan an extra visit or use sedation for comfort. Families looking for gentle crown care near them can call 310-643-6221 to schedule.
