Pulpotomy (Baby Root Canals) in Inglewood

Pulpotomy (Baby Root Canals) in Inglewood for Tooth Pain and Dental Infection
A pulpotomy, often called a baby root canal, gently removes infected or inflamed pulp from inside a child's tooth while preserving the healthy tissue in the root. If your child has a stubborn toothache, facial swelling, or a deep cavity, a pulpotomy (baby root canals) in Inglewood can stop the pain and save the natural tooth. Many parents picture a long, frightening procedure, but the reality is usually one calm visit. Saving a baby tooth matters more than people realize, because it holds space for the permanent tooth and keeps your child eating and speaking comfortably.
When tooth pain or a dental infection shows up, quick care makes all the difference.

What to Expect During a Pulpotomy Visit at Toothopia in Inglewood
Most baby root canals at Toothopia Dental are finished in a single, comfortable appointment. Here is how the treatment journey usually goes at our Inglewood clinic:
- Exam and X-rays. We take digital dental X-rays to see how deep the decay or infection reaches and confirm that a pulpotomy is the right treatment.
- Gentle numbing. We fully numb the area so your child feels at ease. For nervous children, we talk through sedation options before anything begins.
- Removing the infected pulp. We clear the damaged pulp tissue from the pulp chamber and leave the healthy pulp in the root untouched.
- Cleaning and disinfecting. The chamber is cleaned and disinfected to keep the infection from spreading to nearby teeth.
- Restoring the tooth. We seal the tooth with a dental filling, and in many cases add a stainless steel crown so it can chew normally and hold its place.
A typical kids pulpotomy takes about 30 to 45 minutes from start to finish. Because it is a minimally invasive procedure, most children head home feeling relieved rather than sore.
Comfort is the heart of every appointment. Our team explains each step in kid-friendly words, moves at a pace your child can handle, and gives them a real sense of control. If you would like to ask about sedation before the visit, reach out to us at 310-643-6221.

Toothopia Is a Trusted Choice for Baby Root Canals in Inglewood
Families across Inglewood choose Toothopia Dental because we treat children with patience, honesty, and real pediatric experience. We see many local kids who arrive anxious after a rough night of tooth pain, and our goal is always the same: relieve the discomfort and turn a scary moment into a calm one.
Every child is different, so we tailor care to the situation in front of us:
- For the nervous child, we build trust slowly, use gentle language, and offer sedation options when they help.
- For the urgent case with severe pain or swelling, we work to see your child fast and settle the infection quickly.
- For the complex case, such as a very deep cavity, a prior failed filling, or a tooth close to falling out, we assess whether a pulpotomy, a different restoration, or another path best protects the smile.
- For families who need fast results, we aim to diagnose and treat in as few visits as possible, often in one.
Preserving primary teeth is not just about today. A baby tooth lost too early can crowd the space meant for a permanent tooth, so pediatric root canals like this help guide healthy adult teeth into place. Want to protect your child's tooth before decay spreads further? Book a visit with our Inglewood team at 310-643-6221.

What Inglewood Patients Say About Our Pulpotomy Service
I'm forever grateful for Toothopia and all their whole staff! Every time I come here I feel incredibly welcomed and everyone is so friendly, understanding and kind. A big thanks to Kelly and Georgina! I still have a lot of work to get done on my teeth but today I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Nadia and Victoria for taking care of me today and doing an amazing job on teeth!
The staff is outstanding, always helpful. Kelly has been a lot of help with keeping my balance straight, lol. She good at what she does. Dr. Michelle does outstanding work, I highly recommend her for all your dental work. My crown fit perfect, the color matched all the rest of my teeth. I’m so pleased with the work that I’ve had done.
I came here because my tooth was hurting. My gum had receded and exposed the root. They told me that my gums were never going to grow back and and that a deep cleaning was required to stop the recession and that later on skin grafting could restore my gums over the root. They also told me I had 12 cavities that needed to be filled. My prior dentist a year earlier told me my teeth were fine. They canceled my regular cleaning, as it was not sufficient for the amount of disarray in my mouth, and took me into a little room to discuss my several thousand dollar treatment solution. The woman there told me that I needed to go to my employer and get the higher level dental insurance so that I would only need to pay about $3k out of pocket. I left in a panic and asked my parents if we had a family history of complete mouth disintegration around age 30. They said no, and advised me to find another dentist. I bought a water pick and spent a few months religiously cleaning my gums and using the fancy mouthwash and my gums grew back over the root and no longer hurts(that advice was thanks to Dr. Google). Then, I found another dentist who took another set of X-rays and was astounded to hear him finish his exam and say “everything looks good, no cavities, just some minor plaque buildup and we’ll get that off right now”. Hope this can help someone else save some hard earned money.
